City Of Angels

Hey Everyone, I hope you all had as awesome a day as I did. I went to the SPCA thrift store in Merritt Island and found the kewlest herringbone jacket ever. Any guesses at a price? It was only 3 dollars and I cant see anything wrong with it. Aside from the jacket, i also got to see the ever amazing Mary Hall. I worked banquets with Mary at the Holiday Inn in Titusville ( We were like the A-Team in banquets. I was the wild card)  and I didn't get the chance to work with her after I gave my 2 weeks notice, so it was great to see her again. She not only trained me, but she was the only person to root for me even when I declared that I " Want to make some bad decisions". It was great to see her again.
After that, my mom decided that, instead of going home, she wanted to stop by the beach and say hello to a friend of hers. I did not foresee us going to the beach when I left the house. I was wearing a dark plaid long sleeve button down, jeans, and my Dr. Martens. I stuck out like a sore thumb. And of course just standing on that scorching hot chunk of sand wasn't enough, we had to walk down the water and stand there talking for an hour. For anyone who knows how pale I am, you can probably guess what I found out by the time I got to the car. Sun burn... all up on my face. But hey, at least it wasn't that bad of a burn.
Once home, (since I haven't gotten a call back for a job yet) I began work on a grand castle in Minecraft. And by "grand", I mean its going to be so big and detailed that its going to have its own name. If anyone doesn't know what Minecraft is and thinks I have gone off the deep end, google it right now and check out the images or videos. Everything you are seeing was built in game by someone using different colored cubes... and maybe some lava. It's a great game and I bought it for the 360, so it has some catching up to do to reach the level the PC version is at. Once (insert name here) is looking more like a building, I will do my best to upload a picture or two.
That's it for me fore the night guys. As always, have a great night and don't forget to tip your waitresses. Addison out.

I'm thinking it will look like this but with more gold.... and a bat signal in the sky....

White Blank Page

Hey everyone. I was about to just skip writing tonight and just go to sleep, but I feel like I had to share what just happened. So I got home from this downtown art walk thing and had the craziest migraine. I get them often enough that I tried to ignore it. That was not an option tonight. This one was so bad, I ended up turning off anything with a light in my room and turning off anything that made any sort of sound. And when that wasn't enough, I tied a bandanna tight around my head. At that point it was hurting so bad I could hear my hair move every time my head throbbed.
As I laid there wishing for it to stop, I started to feel incredibly sick, then tired and light headed, then drained of life. I couldn't move at all. The only good thing was that my head finally stopped hurting. I decided to just take what I could get and let myself go to sleep. Then it hit me, I tasted blood. Turns out I had pulled a Butterfly Effect and didn't even realize. So while I was in the bathroom cleaning up, I noticed the bandanna that was tightly tied around my head had slipped off. It seems my head was literally swollen the entire time.
That's when I started to think of the movie The Butterfly Effect. In this movie, Ashton Kutcher plays a man who can go back in time to key points in his life and alter events. Every time he changes something and is sent back to present time he has a seizure while his brain is updating all the new memories. That's when I started to wonder, was he the same person every time? Sure, he was always Evan, but isn't a person really just their memories. The events around you are what shape you as a person, they create your personality. That's why I wonder, with every update, did Evan become a new person? Did the Evan from the start of the movie cease to exist?
With that I ask you, would you ever consider deleting the worst memory you have from your past? It still happened, you just have no memory of the event. I don't think I would. By removing that memory, the you that existed before removal would essentially be dead. You may hate that event and hate even more that you remember it, but even if you don't realize, it has changed you. It has added an extra cog the mechanism that runs your personality. With a changed personality, you are by all means a changed person.
Wow, I totally had a different topic in mind before I started to write. I guess I'll just keep this how it is and hope it isn't too dumb. I need to go gets some water.

A Prescription for Mankind

Hey everyone, I'm back with another random splurge of thought. ( Anyone other than me surprised I haven't given up yet?). The reason I'm starting so late is because I had no idea what to write about. I was going to ramble on about Minecraft and how awesome it is that they ported it to Xbox, but the more i thought about it, the worse it sounded. Minecraft may be hella fun, but try to think up a description for it. I'm serious. Anyone who has ever played, I want you to think up a description. Sounds really boring and lame, right? Then I decided I should just stay away from the topic of video games all together, that way no one finds out how much time I spend with a controller in hand ( Judge me if you must). Then, after about 5 minutes of lurking Facebook, a topic hit me. Gypsies!
I was being nice when I said slutty.
I'm going to start by stating the fact that TLC is probably my favorite channel (especially after the head of scifi said they don't want to air "too much science fiction"... ass..). First came Little People Big World with every episode bring a bundle of laughs as midgets ( Unless there are battle axes, they are not dwarves) start up a farm. Good times. Now TLC has brought us even better material. We now have My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding. MBFAGW brings together rednecks, guidos, slutty slutty girls, and gypsy wedding all for our viewing pleasure.
My parents used to have a favorite threat when my brother, sister, and I were little. If we acted up or fought too much, they would always threaten to sell us to the gypsies. By this time, TLC hadn't shown me that gypsies weren't all nasty, scary, old, and Russian, just waiting for their chance to put an evil curse on unsuspecting prey. If I had known they would be selling me to a group of slutty girls who's parents believe 12 is the appropriate age to start slutting it up, I would have been a little asshole. One thing about this has me concerned though. Do the American gypsies possess the same evil magic the Russian gypsies do? If they do, we should all be worried. Gypsies used to live in seclusion and only came out to scam people out of their hard earned money at carnivals or other activities run by creepy people who speak very little English. Now that they aren't afraid of the public eye, they will begin to strike. They will offer to mow your lawns and after you pay them they simply salt the ground and walk away. There will be an influx of unsafe carnivals and shop venders set up all over major cities. A spike in unexplained deaths will occur do to gypsy curses. We must stop the uprising before it's too late.
All is not yet lost. We still have time for an internal strike. I propose we send a scout team of 3-4 people into these gypsy camps to seduce members and gain entry into the various families. From there, they can report on the size of the gypsy empire and notify tactical leaders of upcoming gypsy cons (they may even find the source of the gypsies powers). This is the only way to truely understand the size of this threat and promptly eliminate it at the source.
My fellow Americans, I urge you not to fear. They may be mystical... They may no longer fear publicity..... But they will fear us. We will cannot and will not back down. There will be losses on both sides, but we will succeed. We are Strong. We are Americans. United We Stand.

When the Stars Go Blue

Happy 4th every one. I just wanted to start with saying thanks to everyone who is still reading ( I swear I'm interesting sometimes.). Today I Topped 100 views! And now I do believe it is time for the list that everyone has been waiting for. Addison's Top 10 GO AMERICA Movies. Before I start, I wanted to give a special thanks to Stevie Reeves for reminding me of a very crucial part of the list. I hope you all enjoy.

#10  An American Tail

For anyone who has never watched An American Tail (weirdos), it  is the story of a russian-jewish family of mice whos village is destroyed by evil cats. They then decide to do what anyone who realizes Russia is a horrible place to live does. They immigrate to The United States of America! Along the way, they loose their son Fievel and assume he is dead. Fievel (Not dead) get sold to a sweat shop. shortly after,  he meets a politician who helps him wage a war on the cats and Fievel is then reunited with his family... In AMERICA!

#9  Independence Day

Do you remember how back in the 90's every other movie was about aliens coming to eath and America being the only ones who had the balls to stand up to them? If all of those movies tend to blend together for you, this is the one with The Fresh Prince, The dad from Casper, and the suave scientist from Jurrasic Park. One good thing did come out of this movie though. Independence Day has its very own drinking game. Any time Will Smith says a cheese-tastic one liner, you take a drink. Warning!!! You will need an excess amount of booze for this game to work.

#8  The Patriot

Let me just say, if you have not watched this movie, you need to put down your computer and watch this right now. Even if you have seen it, go watch it again. This is a great movie. It has a crazed Mel Gibson ( Pre-antisemetic rant),  Heath Ledger trying to get into a girls pants (surprise!), and the best tomahawk scene I have ever seen (seriously, I wish I could watch that scene every day). Mel Gibson even stabbs the evil general with the american flag. The art of badassery is revealed.

#7  Armageddon

This is the movie that proves the American dream is real. Similar to Deep Impact ( which came out about 3 months earlier), Armageddon is about a gigantic asteroid plowing into the earth. Can you guess who they send to stop it? No, not top scientists at NASA or skilled astronauts. They send a group of blue collar Americans. Remember this when we are being threatened with impending doom. The only people skilled enough and smart enough to break up an asteroid are deep core oil drillers.

#6  Field of Dreams

What is more American than Kevin Costner and baseball? Field of Dreams is about an Iowa man whos corn field tells him he should build a baseball field to get out of debt. After all the hard work and the bank getting ready to take his house, it tells him hes not done yet. He has to convince an old retired James Earl Jones to come home with him and live in Iowa. After convincing him to come back to his field, Costner has teams of dead baseball players come out from the corn and everyone shows up to watch ghost baseball.

#5  Saving Private Ryan

Perhaps the best WWII movie since Patton, Saving Private Ryan is about a team of soldiers dispatched to bring home the last surviving son of the Ryan family serving in the war. The catch? He is listed as M.I.A. in Normandy. So Tom Hanks leads his team into battle to find him. Once they do, shit hits the metaphorical fan. More than 50 German troops and 2 tanks decide to use this time to take the city. This is where one of the greatest battle scenes in history goes down. I dont want to give anything away, but only 3 (including Ryan) survive the fight as allied troops show up and kick the Germans out. The movie ends with elderly Ryan standing over Tom Hank's grave asking his wife if he lead a good enough life to earn that sacrafice.

#4  Lethal Weapon

Thats right, crazy Mel Gibson makes the list again. In Lethal Weapon, LAPD Sgt. Murtaugh (Glover) is partnered with crazy Vietnam vet Riggs (Gibson). After the death of Rigg's wife, he goes over the edge. Riggs is very much a shoot first ask questions later cop, and all Murtaugh wants is to retire and avoid the explosions that seem to surround Riggs, because he's  "getting too old for this shit". Nothing says America like a crazed Vietnam vet who loves to shoot people in the head and blow shit up.

#3 Rocky 4

What can I say about Rocky 4? Rocky 4 is proof that all it took was 1 Itallian-American to end the Cold War. In this movie, Rocky stands for the hard working American. He says no to drugs and yes to chopping wood lumberjack style. Ivan Drago, on the other hand, is the evil corrupt soviet. He uses steroids and challenges Rocky to a fight on his turf. When Rocky showed up not 1 person cheered for him.... not one person cheered for America. But you know what Rocky did to win them over? He kept getting back up. He never backed down. When he delivered that final blow to Ivan Drago everyone cheered on Rocky.... Everyone cheered for America! That is how Rocky ended the Cold War.

#2  Top Gun

Top Gun is one of those movies that you never want to admit you love. To my knowledge, Top Gun is the only guy movie with a shower scene involving no women and a beach vollyball scene with not one bikini. This batantly homoerotic film did however coin some of the best lines of our time. Where would we be without line like " Your egos writing checks your body can't cash!" or "I've got the need. The need...... for speed!". Those 2 lines alone earned Top Gun its place at #2.

#1  Die Hard

Could my #1 really have been anything else? John McClane is a New York City cop who just wants to see his wife for Christmas. Things don't go as planned though. A group of German terrorist ( lead by Hans Gruber) decide Christmas is the perfect time to attack the Nakatomi building where Holly McClane works. Bad move guys, John McClane is a total badass and you really pissed him off. McClane spends the entire movie barefoot and running through glass/bullets. What a perfect way to spend your christmas vacation. At the end of the day, McClane kills all the terrorists, throws Gruber from the top of a building. America throwing terrorism off a building. It doesnt get any better than that.
Yippie Ki Yay Mother Fucker.

And there we have it. My top ten list of the greatest Go America movies of all time. I've got about 5 minutes of battery life left on my laptop, so I'm just going to wrap this up now. Everyone have a great night, enjoy the rest of your holliday, and if anyone wants more lists in the future, just let me know. Happy 4th Everyone.

You and I Misbehaving

Hey, guys. It's that time again. You guessed it, time for me to hastily figure out what to write before I fall asleep. There is just so much happening that I can't pick just one thing. Andy Griffith died, Spider man got a reboot, Ted finally came out. I was never a fan of Spider man, or Andy Griffith for that matter, so I'll just stick with something I know everyone loves..... Marky Mark.
This past Friday, Marky Mark's new movie Ted hit theaters. I went in with high hopes, expecting Greg the Bunny but with Marky Mark in place of Seth Green. I was not disappointed. Ted was a great movie, and I'm not just saying that because even the worst movie is made watchable by starring Mark Wahlberg (Thats right. I'm looking at you, The Happening). Ted had everything from Marky Mark getting his ass kicked to Flash Gordon doing coke with a magical teddy bear. I couldn't have asked for more. If you're on the fence about seeing it, just do it. It's well worth the price.
In other news, we no longer have to worry about going back to war with Russia. About 2 weeks ago the Syrians shot down a Turkish jet in international waters. I figured, at that point, World War Three was going to start the same way as the first one. Instead of one small country assassinating Franz Ferdinand (The arch duke, not the musician) and jump starting the war, one small country blew up a damn jet. The way i see it, Turkey is allied with Russia, and Syria is part of NATO. Worst case scenario? Turkey strikes back, we strike Turkey, Russia curses Turkey and Syria under its breath and strikes anyone. Fortunately, Syria and Turkey reached a compromise and we don't have to wreck those soviets ( I don't care what anyone says, they're still soviets).
I bet you guys didn't know I could pull out some world news, did you? Don't worry though, I don't plan on boring you with that every day ( Just when I have nothing else to say). Tomorrow's post should be a little more exciting, so don't you worry. I'll be getting my Walking Dead fix and watching some of the best patriotic movies of all time ( I'll share my personal countdown of them). And on that note, I am off to bed.
This is Addison Richard reminding you to....

Switchblade Kiss

Hi, everybody! (If atleast 1 person says to themself "Hi Dr. Nick!", then I win. Today, I had one goal. I set out to scour the internet for anything hilarious, weird, rad, or just awkward. I thought I had found it with http://champagnefacials.tumblr.com/. ChampagneFacials is a great combination of everything I was looking for, and then some. From there I found my way to an old personal favorite, http://www.theworldsbestever.com/. I had completely forgotten about TWBE. For those of you who have never been to theworldsbestever, the name says it all. It has everything from gadgets to an unhealthy obssession with Kate Moss and Adriana Lima.
After that walk down memory lane I was all set to get some sleep. Then my sister decided to throw me a curve ball. See, Amanda really hates 50 Shades of Grey. And when I say hate, I mean she hates it with the burning hot intesity of a thousand suns. She dislikes Hitler, she hates that "book". I love that hatred and feed into it as often as I can, sending her links to 50 Shades of Blue or reports that the sales of silk ropes and other bondage gear has risen as of late. So Amanda sent me to this blog post, http://cassandraparkin.wordpress.com/2012/05/29/adventures-in-trash-fifty-things-that-annoy-me-about-fifty-shades-of-grey/. This is truely the funniest I have ever read. With that, I have a feeling I will be doing something other than playing Minecraft tomorrow.
And now for the part of this post where the majority of people will smell the awkwardness and walk away. You guessed it. Full on nerdgasm. Star wars Celebration 6 is on way guys. I'm the kewl guy who went with his mom last year, and I plan on doing the exact same thing again this time round. For those who dont know, Celbration 6 is the big annual Star Wars convention in Orlando. This year, it starts on the 23rd of August and ends on the 26th. I have a favorite game that I like to play at any nerdy event such as this. I like to count the slave Leias. The number of guys who lock down a girl to go with them and beg them to squeeze into the brass bikini is astounding, so I count. And I don't just count quietly to myself, I go up to them, get their attention, say only the number, and walk away. The interaction is probably the most important part of the whole thing. Without actually talking to them, you risk a repeat and then your number will be completely off. Not every slave Leia has a destinctive dueling lightsabers tramp stamp, so remember their face.
For anyone still reading, I appologize for the nerdgasm back there ( you may want to wipe your screens). I just get kind of excited when something this awesome is near by. It is getting late though, so I should be logging off... and hoping that I do something a little more exciting tomorrow.
Good night, and good luck.

Heads Will Roll

We meet again, daunting blank screen. Let's see..... Today was a somewhat productive day. I actually left the house. I went to Sam's club with my mom and put in an application. It may not be the ideal job, but it does have perks. It would be nice to know how much I'm am going to make every paycheck. Other than that though, I didn't really do anything. I downloaded a few movies, organized my itunes a little more, and played a lot more Mass Effect.
I'll just go ahead and give you a warning now, I play video games a lot and will probably be writing about them when I cant think of anything else to say. I can't help it, it's just part of who I am. I tried to ignore them once (for a girl). That was a horrible idea. I realized that you should never have to sacrifice a passion in your life for someone. If they are a half decent person and actually care about you, they will understand that you have hobbies. The more I think about it, the more I can't believe how stupid I was. I was so blinded by the thought of someone thinking I was cute, that I let her change what I did and who I was. I never want to let that happen again. The next time every single person in my life says " Addy, this is a horrible idea. Don't do it." I'm just going to listen. I'll just save time and money that way.
Well... That just went to a weird place. I'm going to go ahead and jump back to Mass Effect.......  Mass Effect is hands down the best series i have ever played (Sorry, Spyro). In Mass Effect, you are Commander Shepard. You essentially choose everything about your character but the last name. Gender, race, family background, military history, good guy or absolute prick. The choice is yours. When the topic of this games best element comes up, some people say its the combat that makes it great. More people will say its the dialog or the story. They're all wrong. Bioware, as a game devolper, has always done one thing to their games that place them beyon all others. Charater devolopement.
Throughout the series (much like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), you traverse the galaxy building a rag tag team of soldiers, theives, and all around badasses. In between missions you have a main base, the Normandy. The Normandy is your ship, and you are its captain. While on  Normandy you have the option to get to know your squad members. In the course of your adventure, you learn everyones unique personality, you might even begin to care about what happens to them. There are several points in the games where you must choose which member to send into danger or which one to leave behind. Bioware succesfully makes these choices very hard to decide, not because you fear they will ruin the mission some how, but because you just dont want them to get hurt.
And that is why Mass Effect is ( in my honest opinion) the greatest series of this generation. Character developement is a key concept that no one grasps quite like Bioware. Too many people fogive poor character developement in place of stunning visual effects or easy to master combat mechanics in video games these days. Its as if no one realizes that the characters are what alow you to invest yourself in these worlds. A game with boring emotionless charaters will just drag you along for the ride without ever allowing you to take a seat.
To anyone still reading this, I apologize for the Mass Effect rant. I promise, I will not even mention it next time. I have just had that locked away in my memory warehouse for too long and never had a chance to vent it out.
This is Addison Richard,  signing off.
